About Sercombe Vets
One of Nairobi’s longest established veterinary practices, Sercombe Veterinary Surgeons dates back to 1978, when John and Patsy Sercombe started operations in its original location: Miotoni Lane, Karen, Nairobi. In 1998, the practice expanded and relocated to a new, purpose-built building in Langata road, opposite Karen Hospital. This is where you will find the clinic today.
From mostly farm animals to mostly domestic pets
The practice initially worked with farm animals alongside horses and domestic pets, but with Karen and surrounding areas developing and, as a result, land for large animals decreasing, the practice has naturally become more focused on domestic pets and their care and management, preventive medicine, emergency medicine and routine surgery; as well as issues around “one health”, an approach that recognises that the health of people is closely connected to the health of animals and our shared environment.
A centre for vet students and interns
Secombe Veterinary Surgeons is also a centre for veterinary students and interns to come for their attachments.
